Lock the thread and mating bolt into one specification
The purchase order should state the full internal thread designation, not only the nominal diameter. It should also name the bolt, lifting device, or fixing component that will engage the ferrule. Record its thread, length, strength or material requirement, finish, and drawing revision.

Confirm whether the ferrule is open or closed
Concrete paste entering a ferrule can reduce usable thread, obstruct the bolt, and create cleaning work. State whether the approved insert has a closed end, a removable plug, a setting bolt, a washer, or another sealing arrangement. If the end is intentionally open, the drawing and installation method should show how it is protected during casting.

Check how the insert is fixed to the mould
Position matters during casting. Ask how the ferrule is attached to timber or steel formwork, how the face is held flush or at the specified setback, and how the thread is sealed. The installation drawing should show the fixture and the order in which it is removed.

Qualification becomes concrete when the buyer defines what must fit and what must repeat from lot to lot. Match the check to the feature: machining, forming, drilling, tapping, bending, and welding do not all carry the same tolerance or risk.
